What Products Are Available for the APEX Upgrade?
The APEX upgrade encompasses improvements to the company's Ring DAC. All new models of the Vivaldi DAC, Rossini DAC and Rossini players (available through your local dCS dealer) will include the APEX architecture. In addition, the APEX hardware is available as an upgrade for current owners of Rossini DACs and players, Vivaldi DACs and Vivaldi Ones. The upgraded versions will be identical to the new APEX models being sold.
How Much Does It Cost to Upgrade?
While dCS has offered previous software upgrades for free, hardware upgrades do incur a fee. This is because there are inherent costs in not only research and development but also manufacturing and shipping of the new hardware. In addition, the physical implementation of the upgrade also needs to be done by a certified technician to ensure it is done properly.
With the purchase, you receive the new APEX hardware and a one-year warranty for all APEX parts and associated labor. The fee will vary depending on your system, so it's best to reach out to us directly to get an accurate quote.
What is the Upgrade Process?
The upgrade process is being done entirely through the dCS dealer network. Once you order the upgrade through us, you'll receive a scheduled date for the upgrade. On that date, our team will ship the component to dCS headquarters. The company's personnel, qualified in disassembling and assembling these systems without negatively impacting performance, will conduct the upgrade. The piece will be tested thoroughly and then shipped back when the upgrade is complete.
The upgrade program began in March, so you can already reach out to Electronic Concepts if you're interested in participating. The first set of upgrade orders is expected to ship out in May, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible!
