Top-Level Digital Engineers
What began in Castle Park, Cambridge, in 1987 formed from hard science. Data Conversion Systems, rooted in technical engineering theory, performed work for the Ministry of Defense, British Aerospace, and Marconi Avionics, to name a few. Much of their work was used in radar systems, addressing problems, and finding solutions.
It was started by Mike Story, an ingenious design engineer who studied physics at Oxford. His background and their unique start placed dCS in the lead when the digital audio revolution began in the 1990s. Soon, they built the 900 analog-to-digital converters for studio use, the first product to use the now legendary 24-bit Ring conversion technology that results in industry-leading distortion and noise suppression.
In 1996, dCS created the first 24-bit high-resolution digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for the domestic market, and the rest is history. Each of their products is still hand-assembled and considered the top end of the market, the crème de la crème.
The Vivaldi System
The Vivaldi system represents the pinnacle of dCS’s audio engineering, delivering a technically precise musical performance. Their world-renowned DAC is at the core of this system, offering natural and beautiful music from the most complex recordings.
The system consists of the dedicated DAC, Clock, Upsampler, and CD/SACD Transport. Vivaldi’s pioneering architecture is designed to leave the listener immersed in the world of sound that the artist created. Listeners revel in subtle intonations and harmonic movement, not only hearing each inflection but feeling the emotion behind the music and the space between the words.
Whether you're enjoying the music coming from your vinyl collection or streaming your favorite playlist, Vivaldi can be customized to fit your music preferences and digital source. The Vivaldi Upsampler also offers immediate access to numerous streaming services, including Deezer, TIDAL, and Spotify. It is controlled via a mobile app utilizing a user-friendly interface that makes taking control of your music effortless.
The Rossini System
The Rossini system shares the Vivaldi system’s genetic code in a smaller, streamlined style that comes in at about half of the price of its bigger, sophisticated brother. The system includes a dedicated DAC or Music Player, CS/SACD Transport, and Clock.
The Music Player is part DAC, CD transport, and music streamer. This complete music system delivers a fluid, natural sound, from the deepest bass to the softest strings or the sound of a rising wind, transforming you to a different place in time.
Are you interested in listening to the difference a high-fidelity sound system can make to your lifestyle? According to many of dCS’s worldwide fans, the brand’s digital playback systems deliver a powerful, visceral sound and an immersive experience that must be heard to be believed.
